Most visitors only see the surface of Mexico City. They stay in the same areas and eat at the places where locals rarely set foot. Instead of a standard tour, we give you a seat at the tables that matter. We walk through the markets and eat at the puestos (street stands) where the quality is measured by the length of the line. You will not see a polished version of the city. This is not a checklist of the city's popular locations. It is about understanding the history of our ingredients and the rhythm of a city that expresses its identity through its food.

I'm John Chávez, born and raised in Mexico City. I founded Hungry Nomads to share the city I know, beyond the brochures. I’ve spent years refining my routes to ensure you only sit at the tables where the flavor has a story to tell. My goal is simple. I take you away from the noise to meet the faces behind the stalls who feed this city every day. I’m here to help you experience the city not as a visitor, but through the flavors that define our daily life.

Do it, do it, do it!! We just completed the Authentic CDMX Street Food with John from Hungry Nomads. What a fantastic experience it was. John has a great style in delivering this tour that covers the Mexico City street food scene. Starting in the Jamaica Market the tour included not only sampling a number of taco styles, Moles, fruits and insects (you've gotta put yourself our there to eat what the Mexicans eat) but also included the background to each dish, it's history, how it's made and, importantly, how it's eaten. All this was topped of with Pulque (a traditional fermented drink) and Churros. Make sure you bring your appetite (we were very full by the end of the tour) and an inquiring mind. The tour included travel on the Mexico City public transportation system which was an added bonus.
